Biography

Amy Schwartz is a PhD student at the University of Iowa College of Public Health in the Department of Epidemiology. Before joining the Petersen Lab as a graduate research assistant, Amy worked as an epidemiologist at the Division of Vector-borne Diseases at the Centers for Disease Control. Prior to her time at CDC, she worked as a vaccine preventable disease surveillance coordinator at the North Dakota Department of Health. Amy obtained her MPH with a concentration in epidemiology from the Tulane School of Public Health and Tropical Medicine in 2011 and a B.S. in Microbiology with a minor in Emerging Global Diseases from Iowa State University in 2009.  Amy is interested in the epidemiology of Lyme disease with a focus on health equity. She currently assists with the Lyme Transmission-Blocking Vaccine Project.
